Superstar twilight

The day the Beijing Games in three of its biggest stars lose starts with heavy rainfalls. Rapid formation of small lakes all over the Olympic Center, many competitions can not start on time. So it’s been almost eight clock at night, when Roger Federer finally the center court of the Olympic Green Tennis Center enters. Sensitive, it is cool after all these days schwülheißen become, and perhaps this is what the Swiss world number from the first step brings. Or is it the fact that he is next Monday the first 236 weeks since the leading position in the world rankings to Rafael Nadal must submit? Perhaps he has just eaten the wrong Dumplings.

In any case, get the master of the elegant game in this stadium dodecagon no leg on the ground. 6:4 he loses the first set against American James Blake, and in Tiebreak of the second sentence, he in his desperate battle against the end of the Olympic dream as many balls as previously kicked in months. Um 21.30 clock then he must pack his bag, he once again beckons to the audience and makes them quickly.

Like all international superstars of the sport, from Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki on Michael Phelps, the Chinese also had the Swiss in particular to the heart closed. Because they believe that the light of his fame leave their Olympic games appear even brighter. Therefore, they have suffered with him, and groaned, but finally his opponent James Blake beklatscht. Whoever suggests the best, at least one must be good.

But because of the rain all the games in the evening pushed, is after the end of Federer’s still far from final. There is still one of those special games on the plan, China once again against his Super-Ego, the United States, Li Na against Venus Williams. It is the struggle of the underdogs against the Star, National jersey against designer outfit, trousers against rock, good loose against merciless power tennis.

On which side are the spectators, it is clear. The stadium is also just ten still well filled, and there is cheer for Li Na, as it was on the pitch. Only laboriously the Portuguese referee gets the crowd with appeasing the friendly gestures and hiss in the handle. The rest will initially worried the title personally. Venus Williams is not the backdrop of impressive results quickly and proposes 3:0 from the obvious nervousness of their respondent capital – until they too, with huge, awesome beraunten surcharges from one or the other Bredouille shall be exempt.

On external support they may not hope. Also double fault, the genteel procure elsewhere outweigh be solved here cheering from storms, is finally point. Moreover, each half-hearted “USA” reputation with a “Beat USA” answered. Before now, but again the Chinese nationalism under the unfair, one must say that this blows from all sides with laughter is acknowledged.

“The ball was out,” yells John McEnroe with hochrotem head and tense body posture. “Clearly the off.” But he can rant and scream as loud as he wants, the decision of the judge is scheduled. And McEnroe reacts as he is his entire tennis career has done: insulted. This is the Champions Cup in Boston a fun event. Old stars are compared, but McEnroe reached the final. His opponent is the best tennis player of all time, Pete Sampras. He is twelve years younger than McEnroe, clear favorite and ultimately won with 7:6 and 6:4. All in the hall of the Boston University had a clearer outcome expected. But McEnroe is playing strongly, has nothing of his extraordinary ball feeling loss – but also nothing of his Rüpel image.

He still just wants to win. But he does everything: race, rack, raunzen. “John has worked on himself high standards and can only lose badly. He shoots from the hip through his mouth,” his father John senior said. As a spokesman Wayne Bryan Hall during the Boston Warmspielens read out his CV, he is from the applause of the audience interrupted. McEnroe, however, underlined in his presentation just his hand. In his hooded shirt, he looks like a thirty-year-olds, many twenty year olds do not have such a body durchtrainierten as he, and his commitment is as a teenager, of his first tournament win.

As a bonus to compete McEnroe, hear rock music. It suits him, McEnroe is the rock star of tennis history. He is also her Rüpel. The ball was clearly on the line. The whole stadium’s view, only you do not,” someone else gets to hear.

In the 1987 U.S. Open cost him $ 17,500 this vulgar penalty and a two-lock. 1990, he worked for the Australian Open even disqualified. “As a child I was a big fan of McEnroe, but my parents have banned me, him as a model to take,” says the former first-world Jim Courier.

Revamping our on-line calculators

Along with the general move to freshen up the site, we’ve redone virtually all of our JavaScript calculators to make use of the object literal format, to avoid namespace collisions with other JavaScript elements on our pages. This in turn has allowed us more easily to combine related tools so they appear on one page, such as the four tension tools (constant-pull to lockout converter, lockout to constant-pull converter, pounds to kilos converter, and the tension estimator) and the two twist weight tools (the calculator and the estimator).
