The BNP Paribas Open will implement a tennis ball recycling program today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tennis Warehouse Demo Court.The first 1,000 people to bring in six used tennis balls or more will receive one fresh, free can of Penn tennis balls.
The used balls will then be given to Rebounces, a company that explores new methods for recycling tennis balls, according to a news release.
Sony Ericsson will also be collecting used wireless phones, PDAs, batteries and accessories
The BNP Paribas Open is being held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, 78-200 Miles Ave.
